Mens, Men's or Mens' ?
Q. Is the following sentence correct "I will be examining mens perceptions of masculinity". I cannot decided if it is mens, men's or mens' !
Asked by Jeff S - Mon Oct 10 00:11:43 2011 - Words & Wordplay - 2 Answers - Comments
A. It's mens' because the ' at the end states multiple men and their thoughts. while men's is men is which wouldn't make too much sense grammer wise.

What percentage of the men here in "mens health" are gay?
Q. I notice lots of guys in here that seem to love answering questions about other guy's d*cks and anatomy, seems like they have a fascination with it all. now for the girls in here you can see they're just horny lol, but for the guys be honest. just wondering thx
Asked by red - Wed Aug 12 21:17:02 2009 - Men's Health - 10 Answers - Comments
A. Imparting wisdom about penile health doesn't really have anything to do with sexual orientation. It's more about not being prudish and giving advice on something that men are ashamed of talking about. Unless the men answering the questions are talking about how they want to feel the penis inside of them it's just an open forum.

why is it "ok" for women to wear mens clothes but not for men to wear womens clothes?
Q. women wear pants ,ties ,wife beaters(boy beaters) ,mens style underwear (boy shorts). also some men have large enough breast that they should wear sports bras when running and such
Asked by - Sun Nov 8 01:47:01 2009 - Gender & Women's Studies - 19 Answers - Comments
A. It's because as a society, we expect our men to be masculine. If you're wearing something that belongs on a woman, then you aren't wearing something masculine and therefor you are not considered to be a man. It's all bullcrap stereotypes anyway. I've never wanted to wear womens clothing myself, and I'd be surprised to see a man in a dress, but if that's what the man wants then more power to him, he's got the right to do what he wants.

A. Mens' indicates the room is owned by people named Mens'. (not likely), Men's is incorrect, unless the room is owned by people named 'Men's'. (not probable). Mens indicates the room is for all men. Same as: Mans' is incorrect, unless the room is owned by people named 'Mans'. (not probable). Man's indicates room is owned by a person named 'Man'. (not likely). Mans is incorrect unless the room is owned by all people called 'Mans'. (Mebba). ;-)

why is it that women can dress as they please yet men are restricted to "mens" clothing?
Q. i have been curious why it is ok for ladies to wear any type of clothing and it is fine, yet if a guy wears anything out of the norm, people call him weird or a freak! many times i have thought a skirt would be awesome to wear doing stuff outside the house! would allow easy movement and a nice breeze! many "ladies only" items just look so much more comfortable than men's clothing,
Asked by - Sun Oct 3 15:58:11 2010 - Fashion & Accessories - 3 Answers - Comments
A. Not to worry...times are changing. Leading fashion designers are pushing skirts for guys and there is no reason for guys not to wear skirts. Men have the option to wear skirts in 70% of the world but it is just the Western World that still has "hang ups" from the Puritanical Victorian Era men can't seem to loose. Women, with their open minds, did make a change in the 50's and 60's and started to wear pants and now it is the standard. Anyone with any sense would realize a skirt makes more sense for the male anatomy than for a female! Men have worn skirts for thousands of years and many were in the mini and micro mini sizes. Tell Attila the Hun is was gay!!! Ceaser, etc. Some womens clothes are indeed very comfortable for the guys… [cont.]

Is it "mens clothing" or "men's clothing"?
Q. Know its weird I would ask in here. for my store opening, I'm doing signs for the clothing sections. Im not sure if an apostrophe fits in on the signs like it says " MENS " "WOMENS" "CHILDRENS" not sure if it should have apostrophes
Asked by - Fri Jan 27 16:48:28 2012 - Words & Wordplay - 6 Answers - Comments
A. Grammatically, there should be an apostrophe and a 's' at the end of the word because the plural of each that you wrote, is totally different from his singular, in fact each doesn't finish with a 's'. man - men woman - women child - children Thus: man's - men's woman's - women's child's - children's I hope this helps.

A. B/c some people in the world are just not ready to be as liberal as others. It's sad. If you want to do it, but are afraid to at work, then do it other places. But, if this is something serious, like you are transgendered, etc. and you truly feel like you wish you could be more like or become a woman...if you feel horribly oppressed by not being allowed to wear what you wish...if that's making you miserable...then wear what ever the you want and if you have to switch jobs then switch jobs...Be who you are. No matter what. Good luck.

Double Standard: Women can wear mens, but men can't wear women's?
Q. I think it's one of the dumbest concepts in human history. Honostly, think about it: What makes it any diffirent if a guy wears girls clothes rather than a girl wearing guys clothes? I know alot of women can pull off the look of guy clothes better than men can pull off the look of women's clothes, but still, It isn't right to have this double standard. I know some of you are going to be like "but it's just wierd! A guy in girl's clothes? that's gross!" But why is that any diffirent than the inverse? Think before you speak about it.
