A. I've looked for where the quote came from, and I can't seem to find it, but I think that I understand your question. The reason why many people like to point out that oppression stems from politics and not religion is that criticizing another's religious beliefs is a cultural taboo, whereas criticizing political beliefs is not. This is especially true of more liberal Americans, who make up the bulk of the women's movement. So, if I were to criticize a religion for oppressing women, I could be accused of not understanding or respecting different cultures. However, if I criticize a political system for the same thing, then my opinion will be seen as less culturally biased. It's also a lot harder to argue against "God says ..." than… [cont.]

What are the rules at the Olympics in relation to relay batons - can the Yanks cover theirs with velcro?
Q. I watched the relay semis & nearly fell off my recliner laughing, when both the US mens AND women's 4x100m relay teams botched their last baton changes. Jeez it made for good viewing, don't you think? I wonder what the relay coaches will be doing next week - hunting through the situations vacant columns in the local newspapers, i should think!

A. Ha ha ha...I, at least, can see you are taking the mickey here! Who is complaining & being thin-skinned because you referred to the US athletes by a common nick-name? Get on with life girlie & stop letting petty thing bother you. Isn't there a war time song named "The Yanks Are Coming"? or something like that? Composed & sang by US personnel. Anywayy, it was sooo funny to see them drop the batons & their reactions afterwards. I'm sure a couple of the participants still aren't speaking to each other!

A. Ok so Ill give you a few quick rules and then elaborate that way if you don't feel like reading a thesis on mens fashion you dont HAVE to but you should. 1. Know your size - most guys don't go in and grab 3 sizes...A size down from what you wear, a size up and the size you have on. 2. Not every store does everything well - Don't look like a one of the mannequins in the window go to different stores. Further more, pair something old with something new. 3. Items you need to have - 2 pair of good jeans - 1 dark one medium, 1 pair of khakis, 1 pair of white canvas sneakers. 4. Watches - Steel band - Casual times like when your out with the guys, Leather when your at work, Canvas or Nylon at play. 5. It doesn't apply now, but Shorts DO go above… [cont.]

USA hockey Has Made Mens Hockey Less Physical Then womens hockey?
Q. Is it just me? Or Do the new USA Hockey Rules for High school limit the game to much? For God sakes, I thought I was playing hockey, not free skating. I had a Ref last game that would call Interference For lifting a guys stick if he was getting a pass. Or he called Interference on Our Center For Tying up his mas at the face off? Where these ref's simply taking the rules to far? Where they on a power trip? OR Did we change the rules so that Mens Hockey is officaly less Physical then womens? Cause I've seen women play, and the lift sticks all the time, to steal the puck. I dont get it. Why cant they Just let us play Hockey? I remember a few years ago, man, that was a fun time. A. Sounds like the official made at least one bad call. Lifting the stick is 100% legal and should absolutely not be called. The ref may have made the correct call on the center for tying up his man, I would need more details to give a legitimate answer. I don't see how either of the two examples you used did anything to make the game less physical though. The new standard adopted by the NHL and USA Hockey, when applied properly, promotes the big hit rather than discourage it. Players now have the ability to fore check almost unimpeeded and a chance to drive the net without having 2 or 3 players draped over them. The whole mindset of "letting them play" is finished, probably forever.

Are these the mens rules ?
Q. We always hear "the rules" from the female side. Now here are the rules from the male side. These are our rules! 1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down. 2. Sunday = sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be. 3. Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way. 4. Crying is blackmail. 5. Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one: Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it! 6. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question 7. Come to us with a problem only if you want help… [cont.]

A. DI and DII each have 4.5 scholarships per member university. DIII schools do not award athletic scholarships, but most athletes end up qualifying for academic aid. Men's teams can split the money from those 4.5 scholarships among as many players as they want, so it's rare for one player to get a full ride. What you have to do to earn a scholarship is be a top level player on a top level club team, and make yourself visible to college coaches. There is a lot of competition for that limited amount of money. I advise athletes to keep their grades up because volleyball alone will not get you into college.
